The Answer Lies in the Soil

There seems to be some confusion here – albeit only in the explanatory part of the answer, and (partly at least) possibly deliberate!

Arthur Fallowfield appeared in Beyond Our Ken, not the later Round the Horne; and the adjective "rambling" is normally associated not with him but with Rambling Syd Rumpo – another Williams character, who did appear in Round the Horne and was a folk singer.

Arthur Fallowfield is said to have been based on Ralph Wightman, a farmer and countryman who was a regular guest on Any Questions? in the 1950s and 60s.
